Dedication of the New Church of Ajmer
Ajmer, September 22, 2025 – A historic and joyous moment for the Catholic community in Ajmer as the New Church of Ajmer (Our Lady of Seven Dolours Church, Bhatta, Dholabhata) was blessed and dedicated today.
The dedication ceremony began at 10:00 AM under the leadership of the newly appointed Bishop Rt. Rev. John Carvallo. The event was graced by the presence of Bishop Joseph Kullatukal (Jaipur), former Bishop Ignatius, Bishop Oswald Lewis, and many other priests, religious sisters, and faithful.
As part of the solemn program, Bishop John Carvallo opened the doors of the new church and entered with a procession of the faithful. The altar was consecrated with holy oil, the relics of saints were enshrined, and the building was sanctified with holy water. On this occasion, former parish priests, religious sisters, and lay leaders were also honored for their dedicated service.
A 112-Year-Old Legacy Renewed
The old church of Our Lady of Seven Dolours, built 112 years ago, had become dilapidated over time and could no longer accommodate the growing number of parishioners. Recognizing this need, the New Church of Ajmer was constructed on the vacant land behind the old church.
The new structure has been beautifully built with stones from Dholpur and Bijolia, while the interiors feature exquisite Makrana marble carvings. Adding to its spiritual and artistic beauty, the church houses nearly ten statues of saints, symbolizing faith and devotion.
Fellowship and Thanksgiving
After the blessing and Mass, the celebration continued with a fellowship lunch at the church, strengthening the bond of unity and joy among the faithful.
The New Church of Ajmer now stands as a beacon of faith, tradition, and renewal for generations to come.
अजमेर। मेयो लिंक रोड धोलाभाटा भट्टा स्थित सात दुखों की माता चर्च (आवर लेडी ऑफ सेवन डॉलर्स चर्च) के नए भवन का लोकार्पण सोमवार सुबह 10 बजे अजमेर के नवनियुक्त बिशप राइट रेव. जॉन करवांल्लो के मुख्य आतिथ्य में होगा। पल्ल्ली पुरोहित फादर कॉस्मास शेखावत ने बताया कि समारोह में जयपुर के बिशप भी अतिथि के रूप में शामिल होंगे।
कार्यक्रम में मुख्य याजक बिशप जॉन करवांल्लो गिरिजाघर के ताले को खोलकर सभी विश्वासीओं के साथ जुलूस सहित नए प्रवेश करेंगे। इसके बाद पावन तेल से और संतों की विभूतियों का वंदन होगा और नवीन गिरजाघर को पावन जल से शुद्ध किया जाएगा। इस अवसर पर पूर्व में कार्यरत पुरोहितों, धर्मबहनों तथा लोकधर्मियों को भी सम्मानित किया जाएगा।
112 साल है पुराना चर्च, धौलपुर और बिजौलिया के पत्थरों से हुआ तैयार
फादर कॉस्मास ने बताया कि सात दुखों की माता का गिरजाघर 112 साल पुराना है, जो वर्तमान में कई जगह से जर्जर हो चुका था। साथ ही सदस्यों की संख्या बढ़ने से नए भवन के निर्माण की आवश्यकता महसूस की जा रही थी। इसलिए चर्च के पीछे ही खाली जमीन पर नया गिरजाघर भवन बनाया गया है। यह धौलपुर और बिजौलिया के पत्थरों से आकर्षक रूप से तैयार किया गया है। चर्च में मकराना के मार्बल से नक्काशी की गई, जो इसे सुंदर रूप प्रदान करती है। चर्च में करीब दस संतों की मूर्तियां भी लगाई गई हैं।
